Fletchers, Greens, Harrisons, Ingrams and Joneses all reminded to renew their bus passes in December

Concessionary bus pass holders with surnames starting with F to J are being reminded to renew their passes in December.
As thousands of concessionary bus passes approach their expiration date, Northamptonshire County Council is asking passengers to plan ahead to avoid any delay on re-issues.
Following the introduction of the over 60s national concessionary bus pass scheme back in 2008, it is now expected that around 50,000 passes will be due to expire on the same date - 31st March 2013.
To help manage the renewal process, last month the county council began a monthly schedule for anyone whose concessionary bus pass will expire at the end of March next year.  People should visit a library to renew their pass during the month allocated to their surname:

  • December - surnames starting with F to J
  • January - surnames starting with K to O
  • February - surnames starting with P to T
  • March - surnames starting with U to Z
Cabinet member for customer and community services, Councillor Heather Smith said:

"With up to 50,000 concessionary bus passes due to expire on the same date, it would be impossible for library staff to process that many applications at the same time.
"Instead, we have introduced a monthly schedule for passengers to visit their local library and renew their bus pass ahead of the expiration date.
"By taking this phased approach, we can help avoid any delays or disappointment for customers and make sure the renewal process runs as smoothly as possible."
