Enjoy a taste of the Caribbean at The Harder They Come After-Show Party

Audiences for the Friday night performance of musical The Harder They Come on 11 June

can enjoy a taste of the Caribbean at an after-show party featuring some of Northampton's

finest reggae artists and a traditional Jamaican buffet. Tickets for the party,

which include the evening's performance in Derngate auditorium, must be booked by Friday 4 June.

The 1972 movie that brought reggae to the world, The Harder They Come is taking Britain by storm once again,

live on stage. Following a triumphant West End run, this iconic reggae musical comes to Royal & Derngate

from Tuesday 8 to Saturday 12 June, bringing original author Perry Henzell’s quintessential tale of 70s Jamaica to life.

Featuring the classic songs made famous by Jimmy Cliff, such as You Can Get It If You Really Want It, Rivers of Babylon

and the hit title track, The Harder They Come, the show is spectacularly staged with an acclaimed cast

and full reggae band. The music comes alive in a powerful and life-affirming drama of broken dreams,

wasted youth and redemption…the story of a Jamaican rebel with a cause.

With the resonance of a modern fable of gangs, guns and disaffected youth, The Harder They Come

has proved not only to be a gripping show, but also to be a potent cultural expression of contemporary

Britain’s ongoing issues of social exclusion, poverty and inner-city breakdown. Since its original London run,

it has continued to attract enthusiastic audiences through its vivid characterisation, timeless music and dramatic bite.

Appealing to both young and old, black and white, The Harder They Come looks set to blow audiences

away when it comes to Royal & Derngate from Tuesday 8 to Saturday 12 June. Tickets cost from £10 to £26.50

The after-show party will feature Robbie Valentine

and the Mystic Crew Band, along with Jah Troopers Sound.

Combined tickets for the show and party on the Friday night of the run are £30.
