My Zinc Bed
Over one long summer, Paul, recovering alcoholic and young poet, is drawn into the orbit of billionaire internet businessman Victor, and his beautiful wife Elsa, who has her own dark past. With wit, passion and intensity, they fight to hold their lives together in the face of growing temptation.
This is an intimate portrait of three people addicted to alcohol, their work and each other, which examines the meaning of friendship, faith and obsession.
First performed at The Royal Court in 2000, this is the stage premiere of a new version created by David Hare for last year’s HBO film starring Uma Thurman. It follows his Academy Award-Winning adaptation of The Hours. His current play at the National Theatre, The Power of Yes, has been thrilling audiences and critics alike, while previous work such as The Secret Rapture, Plenty and Skylight have become contemporary classics.
