Pack off your cases to a good cause!

Chief Executive Martin Sutherland
Artistic Director Laurie Sansom

Patron The Rt Hon Earl Spencer

Rehearsals are now underway for the next Made in Northampton production
at Royal & Derngate, which will be a stage adaptation of the 1969 Graham Greene novel,
Travels With My Aunt, and the theatre is appealing for help in setting the scene for the play.

In this hilarious, globe-trotting adventure, retired bank manager Henry Pulling is lured away
from his beloved dahlias by his eccentric and elderly Aunt Augusta,
to find himself unwittingly embroiled in a non-stop journey of crime, intrigue and espionage.

With the prevailing theme of travel, suitcases feature large in the design of the show, and so
Royal & Derngate are asking the people of Northamptonshire to hunt through their attics and garages for any old,
unwanted suitcases, dating from around 1970 or earlier.

If you have any suitcases that may be suitable that you would be willing to donate to the dramatic cause,
please contact Royal & Derngate's Company Stage Manager Meryl Couper  on 01604 655774
or email Subject to availability,
the theatre would like to thank the donors of appropriate pieces of luggage with the
offer of a pair of complimentary tickets to one of the preview performances of Travels With My Aunt.

Friday 30th April- Saturday 15th May 2010
Venue: Royal

Travels With My Aunt

Recently retired city gent Henry Pulling loved nothing more that tending his beautiful English garden. That was before he met his long-lost, flamboyant, septuagenarian Aunt Augusta. In need of a travelling companion, she
suggests a trip (before he can plant another Dahlia!) and soon they set off on a thrilling, globe-trotting adventure.

Lured slightly unwittingly into the exciting world of the eccentric aunt, Henry’s old life of banking and botany is turned upside down as he embarks on a new non-stop journey of crime, intrigue and espionage!

At lightning pace, four male actors will play all twenty-five characters in this hilarious new staging of Graham Greene’s light-hearted 1969 novel. Graham Greene is of course well known for titles including Brighton Rock and The Ministry of Fear. For Royal & Derngate, Travels With My Aunt is being directed by Gary Sefton.
