Over half-a-million pounds is being made available to support the work of groups that help people in Northampton.
Northampton Borough Council is accepting applications for next year's Partnership Fund. The grants could see thousands of pounds being awarded to a wide range of groups and not-for-profit organisations that do positive work in Northampton.
- Applications for a minimum of £2,000 will be accepted from registered charities, unregistered voluntary or community groups, registered charitable companies limited by guarantee and Social Enterprises. In total £550,000 is available and applicants must show how the money would complement the Council’s priorities to support residents through:
- Advice and guidance services,
- Interpersonal violence support,
- Age and/or disability support,
- Counselling and advocacy services,
- Infrastructure support,
- Homelessness support,
- Family support, and
- Community focused projects.
Councillor Brandon Eldred, Northampton Borough Council’s cabinet member for community engagement said:
"Across Northampton we have a large number of groups actively working to support other people and make life better in their community. And, in the current economic climate we know it can be difficult for these groups to reach as many people as they would like to. So our Partnership Fund is there to help those who help others.
"Even a small grant can make a huge difference, so we are asking for groups to come forward and see if we can help.”
To make the application process easier Northampton Borough Council is working with the Northampton Volunteering Centre to offer a training session that explains how to apply for a grant. This will be held in the Guildhall on Wednesday 12 December at midday. In January two more sessions have been organised by the Northampton Volunteering Centre.
