Northampton Carnival 2012 Finally went ahead!

The Northampton Carnival 2012 went ahead on Saturday 14th July 2012, despite a lot of rain on Delapre Park, a contingency plan went into action. And instead of a carnival parade and entertainment in Delapre Park, it was decided that the carnival parade would go ahead without the park being used for the entertainment, as the park was water logged by months of never ending rain.

The Carnival had one day cancelled already due to the weather. The first date was 9th June, the carnivals anniversary date.  At 4.35 pm on Friday 8 June, Northampton Borough Council asked the Carnival Committee to postpone the Carnival due to take place on Saturday 9 June.

The theme for this years carnival, ironically called, ''Summer of Celebrations'.

Marking 60 years of The Queen's reign.
Marking  50   years of Jamaican  independence.

Marking The 2012 Summer Olympic Games
to be held in London from 27 July to 12 August.
