Go completely quackers at Royal & Derngate’s festive family fun day

Following on from the success of last Christmas’s Ozmania, the Fuzzy Festival for James and the Giant Peach and the brilliant Family Friendly Festivals that ran alongside The BFG and 101 Dalmatians, Christmas Quackers – on Saturday 5 December – promises to be another building-wide day of fun and games that the entire family can enjoy.

To celebrate the opening of its cracking Christmas production Honk! The Ugly Duckling Musical, Royal & Derngate will be throwing open its wings for another fantastic family fun day. From 11am until 1pm and from 3pm until 5pm on Saturday 5 December children and their families can take part in this exciting free event which will include a variety of farmyard inspired entertainment. Design an animal for the funky farmyard competition, duck into the dressing up box or create some crazy balloon designs with Balloonatic. The fantastic Circo Rum Ba Ba will be returning to entertain everyone with their amazing stilt walking scarecrows and there will be live atmospheric music provided.

There will also be the chance to nest in Café R&D, where children can enter colouring competitions and parents can sit back and relax with a range of tasty refreshments to choose from. The children’s fun activities are completely free of charge and open to all, regardless of whether you have booked to see the show or not.

The morning session of the family fun day will be followed by a performance of Honk! in the Royal auditorium, starting at 1.15pm, and after the afternoon fun session there will be a second performance of Honk! at 5.15pm. So why not make a day of it?

Honk! The Ugly Duckling Musical tells the tale of Ugly, a duckling born different from the rest and his hilarious musical journey of self discovery.  The show runs from Tuesday 1 December to Sunday 3 January. Tickets cost from £9 to £21 with concessions and group discounts available. You can book now by calling the Box Office on 01604 624811 or online at www.royalandderngate.co.uk
